People trapped in an accident at a hydropower station in Danba, Sichuan, rescue is still in progress

According to the official Weibo news of the Ministry of Emergency Management, at about 14:00 on January 12, Unit 3 of Guanzhou Hydropower Station in Danba County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province burst during the maintenance of the water pipe plug valve of the plant, causing 11 maintenance personnel were trapped, and 3 people have been rescued (1 of them died), and the rescue work is still in progress.

The Emergency Management Department dispatched and guided emergency response and sent a working group to the scene.

　　After receiving the report, Minister Huang Ming, who was participating in the seminar for key provincial and ministerial leaders to study and implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, immediately made arrangements, requesting to approve the number of missing contacts as soon as possible, scientifically organize and go all out to carry out rescue and relief efforts. On-site disposal work, do a good job in the safety assessment of the hydropower station and surrounding areas, prevent secondary accidents, and ensure safety; identify the cause of the accident as soon as possible, deal with it seriously in accordance with laws and regulations, resolutely prevent such accidents, and send a working group to the scene to guide the disposal and cause investigation.

Huang Yuzhi, Zhou Xuewen, Song Yuanming, Qiongse and other leaders of the department went to the command center of the department as soon as possible, and connected with the Sichuan Provincial Emergency Management Department and the Fire Rescue Corps via video connection to dispatch and guide the emergency response work of the accident.

　　After the accident, the Fire Rescue Detachment of Ganzi Prefecture immediately dispatched 46 people, 6 fire trucks and 1 assault boat to the scene for disposal.

The Sichuan Provincial Fire Rescue Corps dispatched a total of 25 water rescue forces, 7 fire trucks and professional equipment such as dragon suction water from Chengdu and Ya'an and other surrounding fire rescue teams to reinforce.
