takes stock of four important projects which will reach the goal this year or, on the contrary, for which it all begins.

Ikea, 20 years later

This is the end of a long soap opera that the Swedish brand is preparing to celebrate west of Nice.

On May 11, nearly 20 years after its first attempt to set up in the Alpes-Maritimes, Ikea will open its first store on the Riviera right next to the Allianz Riviera stadium.

During the coming months, the workers will work to complete the "build-up", specifies the brand.

That is to say, they will carry out the interior design of the 24,000 m2 of sales area, the last step before the inauguration.

In blue and yellow.

Even if the city of Nice had assured the contrary, when the project was launched in 2013, the whole will be entitled to two facades in the colors of the furniture kit specialist.

The new TER station of Saint-Augustin (while waiting for the TGV)

The trains get a little closer to the trams… and to the airport.

The new TER station of Saint-Augustin, 300 m further west than the current one, will be put into service this summer, confirms the city of Nice and SNCF Stations and connections.

Work on the adjoining bus station should then continue until 2024. In 2028, "new work will increase the number of platform tracks from two to four and lengthen them from 200 to 400 m to accommodate TGVs", also indicates the SNCF subsidiary.

Iconic will deliver all its facets

After falling a little behind, especially because of the health crisis, Iconic entered the home stretch.

For this 19,000 m2 complex, between the station and avenue Jean-Médecin, work is progressing "at a rapid pace" and "delivery is scheduled for the first half of the year for opening at the end of the year", assures the town hall.

In addition to 6,000 m2 of shops, this building with architecture reminiscent of the faces of a diamond will include a Hilton hotel with 120 rooms, five restaurants including a panoramic one, 5,500 m2 of new generation offices and a performance hall from 500 to 600 seats which will be used in particular for performances by the National Dramatic Center.

The extension of the Paillon promenade

This is THE project for the next few years.

Still contested by the opposition, the demolition of the TNN and the Acropolis palace to extend the green belt will begin this year, assures the town hall.

The destruction of the theater will start in the spring and the fitting-out work is planned until May 2025.

Nice

The National Theater relocated to several other halls is "the opportunity for us to reinvent ourselves", says its director.
