The Egyptian Public Prosecution began investigations with a girl in Dakahlia Governorate, accusing her of blackmailing dozens of men and women through the social networking site "Facebook", and sending indecent images and messages in order to obtain money from them in exchange for stopping publishing those images.

The Egyptian newspaper Al-Shorouk stated that the security authorities in Mansoura had received several reports against a woman named “Alia”, 36 years old, who resides in the Kafr Al-Badamas area in Mansoura, stating that she had blackmailed and threatened them through composite images and videos and threatened to publish them on social networking sites, and send them to all relatives Victims using technological means.

The officers of the General Department for Combating Internet Crimes were able to determine the identity of the accused and the location of the messages issued by the threats.

On examination, it was found that the accused was choosing her victims from high-ranking officials in order to be able to blackmail them and obtain large sums of money from them, while the second Mansoura Prosecution investigated the incident.
