The Al-Mughira Championship, as part of the Al-Dhafra Grand Kanaad Hunting Championship for men and women in its second session, witnessed strong competitions between the participants, with 434 participants from citizens, residents and visitors, while the registration for the tournament continues until January 16th.

The tournament, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Committee, will receive the participants of the contestants on the beach of the city of Al Mirfa in the Al Dhafra region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Director of the Planning and Projects Department in the Committee for the Management of Festivals, Cultural and Heritage Programs, Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, said that participation in the tournament categories is witnessing a high turnout of participants, as the tournament recorded 398 participants in the men's category, and 36 participants in the women's category, explaining that these participations include the participation of teams as well as Participations of individuals from different cities and regions of the UAE.

The highest fishing weight of Kanad has been delivered so far in the men's category, about 29 kilograms and 400 grams, and in the women's category about 14 kilograms and 400 grams, as the minimum weight allowed to participate in the men's category is 25 kg, and in the women's category 10 kg. The Al-Mughira Championship allocated 20 valuable prizes to the first-place winners, with a value of 680,000 dirhams, divided into 10 prizes for the men’s category and 10 prizes for the women’s category. 50 thousand dirhams, the fourth 35 thousand dirhams, the fifth 30 thousand dirhams, the sixth 25 thousand dirhams, and 15 thousand dirhams for each position from the seventh to the tenth.

Participation in the Al-Mughira championship is open to fishermen and kingfisher enthusiasts in various marine fishing areas in the United Arab Emirates. Registration in the tournament is via the website (
