Vitamin B12 deficiency .. Three warning signs that appear on the skin

Vitamin B12 is found naturally in some foods or available as a supplement, and it has multiple tasks in our bodies including taking care of the function of the central nervous system and maintaining the health of blood cells, and there are three warning signs that appear on your skin that indicate a vitamin B12 deficiency.

Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to various health problems, such as anemia caused by folic acid deficiency, and the newspaper "Express" quoted the British Health Service as saying that the three warning signs that appear on the skin and indicate a deficiency of vitamin B12, are:

  • pale skin

  • A pale yellow tinge on your skin

  • Sensation of tingling and numbness in the skin, especially the skin of the hands and feet.

The British Medical Journal explains that yellowing of the skin can be caused by a condition called jaundice, which can occur due to a lack of the vitamin in some cases, and jaundice leads to yellowing your skin or the whites of your eyes.

It is noted that there are some good food sources of vitamin B12 such as meat, salmon, cod fish, milk, dairy products and eggs, and since these products are derived from animals, vegetarians and vegans may have difficulty accessing the appropriate amount of vitamin B12. However, supplements can be prescribed food for them by the doctor.
