Mars Nicotine Death, Suicide or Murder?

On the 8th SBS 'I want to know' broadcasted on the 8th, 'Nick shot, kimchi and rice flour - Mars nicotine death case' was lit up with the subtitle of 'Nicotine death on Mars.'

Hwa-young Lee, who runs a small workshop in Hwaseong, has been recognized for her skills to the point of appearing on TV. As a good wife and mother at home, she lives a life that seems perfect in the eyes of others. However, it turns out that he became a suspect in her husband's murder.

In May of last year, her husband died suddenly. In response to the sudden death of her husband, who had no chronic disease, Hwa-young claimed that she died because the hospital did not take proper measures, claiming a medical accident. However, the cause of death revealed two months after her husband's death marked a new phase.

The cause of her husband's death was acute nicotine poisoning. When her husband, Park Seon-ho, who does not normally smoke, died of nicotine poisoning, the police immediately launched an investigation. In addition, it was confirmed that his wife Lee Hwa-young purchased Nickshot, which illegally increased the nicotine concentration in liquid nicotine for e-cigarettes on the market. The police arrested Lee on charges of murdering Park in November.

However, Lee strongly denies all charges. In particular, Mr. Lee's younger brother met with the production team directly and complained of injustice, saying that there were many wrong facts in the media. In March of last year, he suspected that his brother-in-law had attempted suicide. Mr. Lee's younger brother said that his brother-in-law, Mr. Park, may have made an extreme choice because he was suffering from Mr. Lee's affair and debt.

Baek, who met Lee at a volunteer group and had an affair for over three years, made a similar claim. In particular, he emphasized the possibility of suicide, saying that there was a search record suggesting suicide on Mr. Park's cell phone.

But Park's friends said they couldn't understand the possibility of suicide. His friends said, "To protect my family, I exercise regularly, quit drinking and smoking. I won't commit suicide even because of my children." My co-workers thought the same. There were no signs of suicide.

Police said there were no signs of suicide at the scene. In addition, experts said about the cell phone search history, "It shows that the wife can use the cell phone at any time because it was confirmed that the wife sent a text message to her husband's cell phone the night he was taken to the emergency room." Mr. Lee, not Mr. Park, spoke about the possibility that he had done a search with Mr. Park's cell phone enough.

And Park's friend, whom he met during the interview process, said that shortly after Lee was arrested, he received a phone call from his family. Mr. Lee's younger brother was looking for anyone who had seen Mr. Park smoking, and it was surprising.

A friend also said that Mr. Park has been working part-time outside of work for the past few years. He worked for a partner company of a large corporation and earned an average of 2.7 million won. If you include a delivery part-time job, his monthly income is about 4 million won, but he sent only 500,000 won for pocket money and the rest to his wife.

And Park's acquaintances told a different story from the results of the police investigation, saying that Park's family seemed to be economically prosperous. Park's father knew this story.

Park's father spent a lot of money each time for various purposes. His father could not believe that economics was the cause of his death. On one occasion, Mr. Park sent a sale document saying that he had bought local land with about 200 million won given to him by his father.

Accordingly, the production team analyzed the sales documents with experts. And the results were shocking. The land in the sale document did not belong to Mr. Park, and the land had not been traded for a long time.

Regarding Park, the police said, "I don't have any other property and I couldn't afford to buy land. And all the property was managed by Lee Hwa-young." On the other hand, Lee Hwa-young had more than 100 million won in debt. In addition to the murder charge, Lee Hwa-young was also charged with fraud. After Park's death, he borrowed 3 million won from Park's cell phone.

Park worked day and night, but the only property he had was the land his father had given him. Park's father was frustrated, saying, "If my daughter-in-law used all the money I gave her, it would be 450 million. Where did she spend all that money?"

An acquaintance of Mr. Lee said that there must have been a considerable amount of expenditure in the volunteer group where Mr. Lee was active with Mr. Baek. Baek, who is the group's representative and is Lee's lover, also acknowledged this.

The police saw Park's suicide riot last year as something that happened out of a sudden knowing that his wife had borrowed money without his knowledge.

An expert said, "Several other financial problems have occurred, but it is difficult to see it as a murder for insurance money, and a multi-faceted investigation into financial difficulties after marriage is required," said the expert. He also analyzed that "insurance money is incidental. It is only a part of the profit that the person can get in the process of this crime."

Medical experts said that nicotine has a half-life of about 2 hours, and if there was nicotine in the wheat flour you drank in the morning, it would have been exhausted by the time you left work. As a result, attention was paid to the worsening of symptoms even after 10 pm. Experts raised the possibility of some exposure to nicotine in the meantime. It is highly likely that he was exposed to nicotine shortly before calling 911.

Mr. Lee was not with Mr. Park, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Lee arrived at the emergency room with a child after several calls with her boyfriend. And it was revealed that Mr. Lee had fed Mieum to Mr. Park before the ambulance arrived.

Park was discharged two hours after hospitalization.

Even if there was nicotine in the mieum, the concentration of nicotine in the body at the time of discharge would have been reduced by more than half.

However, Park died suddenly six hours after being discharged from the hospital.

Park, who returned home, was presumed to have died while going to the bathroom due to abdominal pain.

After that, by the time the ambulance was dispatched, Park's body was already visible with the naked eye.

The time of his death was predicted to be around 3 am.

And his wife, Lee, claimed that she last saw her husband alive at 2 am.

The expert analyzed that the blood concentration at the time of death may be higher than the blood concentration at the time of autopsy, and that the blood concentration at the time of death is estimated to be a concentration with a high probability of death.

It was speculated that there would be additional exposure or additional administration of nicotine when returning home after being discharged from the hospital.

Park's friends told the story that Mr. Lee gave him drugs after he was discharged from the hospital.

However, at the time, none of the drugs that Park was prescribed at the hospital could be used for bathing.

In response, Mr. Baek said that Mr. Lee bought digestive medicine and fed it to Mr. Park.

In response, an expert said, "There is a sufficient possibility that the nicotine was burned in the digestive agent to hide the pungent taste."

On the day of his death, Seonho ate everything that his wife Lee had given him.
