Sidney Poitier, the first black actor to win an Oscar, dies

US actor Sidney Poitier has died at the age of 94, a State Department official in the Bahamas said on Friday.

Poitier broke the barriers of racism as the first black actor to win an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in "Lilies of the Field."
