News from our newspaper (Reporter Wang Run) Yesterday, Zhang Jiqing, a well-known Kunqu Opera artist and representative inheritor of Kunqu Opera, a national intangible cultural heritage project, died of illness at the age of 83 in Nanjing.

  Zhang Jiqing, formerly known as Zhang Yiqing, was born on January 3, 1939 in Suzhou, Jiangsu.

The representative inheritor of Kunqu Opera of the national intangible cultural heritage project, the honorary dean of Kun Opera of Jiangsu Performing Arts Group, and the national first-class actor.

In 1984, she won the first Chinese drama "Plum Blossom Award"; in 1986, she was awarded the honorary citizenship by Villepin, France; she was awarded the Kunqu Opera Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chinese Ministry of Culture in 2002; she was awarded the United Nations Educational Science in November 2002 Jointly awarded by the Cultural Organization and the Ministry of Culture as the "Artist with Long-term Concentration in Kunqu Opera"; Won the Lifetime Achievement Award for Chinese Artists in New York, USA in 2006; Won the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative inheritance in January 2008 people.

  Zhang Jiqing was born in a family of opera, and began to learn art from his aunt at the age of 14.

In 1952, he joined the Suzhou Minfeng Su Opera Troupe, and later studied under You Caiyun and Zeng Changsheng, specializing in Kunqu Opera.

In 1956, he was transferred to the Su Kun Opera Troupe of Jiangsu Province and was taught and guided by famous Kunqu opera artists such as Yu Zhenfei, Shen Chuanzhi, Zhu Chuanming, Yao Chuanxiang, Yu Xihou, etc., which can be described as a collection of the best of everyone.

Her voice is mellow and thick, her words are clear, her accent is tactful, and her charm is timeless. She has absorbed the characteristics of various accents, formed her own unique singing method, and created many distinctive artistic images, especially "Zhang Sanmeng"-"Lan Keshan" -Fantastic Dreams, "The Peony Pavilion-Surprising Dreams", and "The Peony Pavilion-Seeking Dreams", are recognized as the masters of Chinese Kunqu Opera.

  Zhang Jiqing also performed on stage many times in his later years, and made great contributions to spreading the art of Kunqu opera and cultivating talents of Kunqu opera.
