He added in his speech to an episode (7/1/2022) of the “Beyond the News” program that all the initiatives that were put forward in Sudan internally called for dialogue, but there is a crisis of confidence towards the military component on the part of the civilian forces that are looking for a guarantor to implement the outcomes of the dialogue, and it must This guarantor shall be an international party with weight.

Washington had expressed its willingness to support a Sudanese-led dialogue with UN assistance, and Ambassador Mulli, in the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, stressed the need to reach a Sudanese national consensus that does not exclude anyone.

For its part, the Sovereignty Council stated, in a statement, that Ambassador Molly confirmed Washington's support for holding elections at the end of the transitional period, and for conducting a transparent investigation into the abuses that accompanied the demonstrations.

On the other hand, the former researcher at the Higher Academy of Strategic and Security Studies, Mutassim al-Hassan, expressed his astonishment at the repeated rejection of the elections by many civilian forces, despite the calls of the Military Council for them, accusing these forces of trying to stay in power for as long as possible, either through an alliance with the military or By controlling the entire power with the presence of protection for it.

He added that the President of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan had announced a few days ago that the door to dialogue is open to everyone even before the US Assistant Secretary of State calls and calls for that, stressing that the military do not want to stay in power, but rather they want to return to their barracks and exercise their normal tasks, noting that the proof is taking place. On the need for the coming period to be specific and synchronized to end the transitional phase, which the political forces reject.

For his part, Atlantic Council researcher Cameron Hudson said that the joint US invitation with some countries wants a comprehensive dialogue in Sudan that includes everyone and comes out with a document that defines the future paths in the country, and the most important thing in the political talks in Sudan is that it be transparent and raise all issues.

Hudson added that it is important for the mediator in Sudan to be a prominent figure of great weight, and aware of the details of the problems in it in order to advance the wheel of dialogue and come up with achievable outcomes, expressing his conviction at the same time that it is difficult to bridge the gap between the civil and military components at the present time.
