The man had a fever when he returned to Tokushima prefecture at the end of the year, so the prefecture announced on the 3rd that he was infected with the new coronavirus and was conducting a genome analysis to see if it was an Omicron strain.



The man was admitted to a hospital in the prefecture, but he was mildly ill, and all five close contacts, including his family, were confirmed to be negative.
