On January 5, Ma Shitu celebrated his 108th birthday.
On the eve of Ma Shitu's tea birthday, the literary master donated his 500,000 yuan from the calligraphy exhibition in June 2021 to the "Ma Shitu Literary Award" established by the School of Literature and Journalism of Sichuan University to fund poor students who love literature.
Since 2014, Ma Shitu has donated 3.86 million yuan to Sichuan University and sponsored 153 young literary talents.
