Emily in Paris is one of the most watched Netflix series right now, written and directed by Sex and the City creator Darren Star.

The young American Emily moves to Paris to work at a PR agency.

She meets French people who are arrogant, drink wine, arrive late, flirt across the border and have poor sewage systems.

Criticized in Le Monde

"Prejudiced stereotypes," say French critics.

French Ambassador Etienne de Gonneville has seen three episodes and does not really agree.

- There will always be clichés.

Parts of the series are ridiculous and disgusting.

But it is also fun and shows the reality: the beautiful city and the liveliness.

In these covid times, this is what we need, in many ways it attracts to visit Paris, he says.

"We love to be in focus"

Etienne de Gonneville believes that his countrymen in many ways actually enjoy the prejudices of the outside world about France.

- We are French.

We love to discuss and struggle.

And so we love to be the focus of debate, we are now!
