Cellist Gautier Capuçon launched his foundation to help young musicians hit by the health crisis.

The musician will accompany young people leaving the conservatory to take their first steps in a difficult environment.

He explained his approach Tuesday noon at the microphone of Europe 1.

INTERVIEW

Many sectors have been affected by the health crisis.

Among them: the music sector.

Deprived of concerts, and therefore of fees, many musicians pulled the devil by the tail during the pandemic.

It is also impossible for young people to get started.

To help them, cellist Gautier Capuçon has created a foundation.

"We leave the conservatory with its price, we think that the stage is offered to us and we quickly realize that it is complicated", explained the cellist at the microphone of Europe 1. "During this Covid period, it is a mission which is almost impossible for them. "

Support the first steps of young people on stage

The mission of the foundation is to support musicians in their development and to invite them to take part in concerts by established artists to offer them visibility. "I think the world of culture has suffered extremely, and young people in particular. When you are 18-20 years old and you come out of a conservatory, without a helping hand, it's very difficult. They need that. we can help them all ", explained the cellist at the microphone of Europe 1.

The foundation also has a partnership with Gautier Capuçon's record company: every year, a winner will be selected and will be able to record their first record.

The first winner has already been selected.

He is a pianist who will return to the studio at the end of January and who will do his first concert, alongside Gautier Capuçon, this Sunday in Vienna.
