A 51-year-old man, who admitted stabbing his 56-year-old companion on January 1 in Labry (Meurthe-et-Moselle), was indicted on Monday for murder by spouse and placed in pre-trial detention, announced the prosecution of Nancy.
The victim was found Saturday morning in Labry.
The suspect quickly admitted to having carried several stab wounds "following an argument", and continued his confession during his interrogations, specified François Pérain, the public prosecutor of Nancy.
The suspect was not known for domestic violence
According to the magistrate, "no complaint" or "handrail had been filed by the victim".
The suspect was not known for acts of domestic violence but for traffic offenses, drug use or damage.
These are the couple's neighbors who alerted the police to the occurrence of a "clearly violent marital dispute in an apartment in their building," François Pérain said on Saturday.
On their arrival, the police had discovered the body of the victim, who presented "numerous wounds by stabbing", and with a knife "stuck in his chest".
The suspect wanted to end his life
The police had also found in the apartment "a rope with a noose", which the suspect wanted to use to end his life, still according to the prosecutor.
Employee at the town hall of Jarny, a neighboring town, the suspect said he was, at the time of the facts, "on sick leave for nervous breakdown".
On Saturday, another woman, aged 27, was stabbed to death in Maine-et-Loire.
His companion, a 22-year-old soldier, was indicted and remanded in custody on Monday.
