About a thousand people took part in a wild rave over the weekend in Villeveyrac, a town in Hérault located about 25 km northwest of Montpellier and about as many from Sète.

The last revelers present since Friday evening in the town of Villeveyrac left the scene this Monday morning.

For three days, the gendarmerie carried out checks at the entry and exit points of this area.

Forty-four offenses were noted.

Fines for possession of narcotics and driving under the influence of narcotics or in an alcoholic state have been drawn up.

Around 700 vehicles from France, Italy and Spain

In total, the prefecture noted the presence of around 700 vehicles.

Motorhomes registered mostly in Spain and Italy and three semi-trailers were present at the scene.

The mayor, Christophe Morgo (DVG), also "observed the presence of a large number of local miners who hitchhiked" "No party animal wore a mask," he added.

He was to go to the scene on Monday to see the damage: the schoolchildren had recently sown seeds there in order to grow a forest on this place adjoining a wind farm.
