Send you a little red flower (3)

In the past, Tang Min hoped that he would be quicker, brave, and more independent.

In the 13 years since he became a "girl on fire", Tang Min, a sensitive and introverted person, was always afraid of troubles others.

She was worried that she was not fast enough to have the same efficiency as ordinary people... After half a year of college, Tang Min seemed to have found a balance between fast and slow.

The school set up a 60-member volunteer team for Tang Min, and she tried to live independently for the first time.

Slowly stripping away the weakness, she took the initiative to join the debate team, and felt the passion of joining the group; she entered the WeChat group of the disabled, yearning to break through the physical barriers and embrace free life like the excellent predecessors in the group; "Appearing in an art exhibition, she thought for the first time what it meant by the "fast" of ordinary people and the "slow" of disabled people.

Just like the free swimming goldfish in the painting, Tang Min is slowly enjoying her new life.

  Tang Min 21 years old

Identity: Freshman of China Women's University

Yearly memory: Admitted to China Women's College with a score of 588 in the college entrance examination

In 2008, Tang Min, who was only 8 years old, rushed into the fire to protect his 1-year-old brother with his body.

The younger brother survived, but Tang Min lost his hands and feet.

During the long recovery period of treatment, Tang Min completed the primary school curriculum by self-study and went straight to junior high school.

In the 2021 college entrance examination, relying on the left thumb of his arm and left hand, Tang Min scored 588 points and was admitted to the China Women's College in Beijing.

The experience of a wheelchair girl opened a door for her

After the fire in 2008, people with disabilities became an identity tag for Tang Min, but for the past 13 years, she did not understand this group and rarely came into contact with other disabled people in her life.

After arriving in Beijing, a friend pulled her into a WeChat group for people with disabilities.

There are people with disabilities from different industries and different backgrounds in the group. "They are all excellent and insightful. I like to chat with them." Tang Min said that she has always been eager to understand this group and know what they are doing. What can they do.

The group of friends will share news, stories about the disabled and the progress of legislation related to the disabled in the group. Through this group, Tang Min felt the meaning of the disabled person’s identity for the first time, and also saw more More possibilities for life.

Among the group of friends, Tang Min admired Pan Meihao the most.

This 26-year-old wheelchair girl came to Beijing from her hometown of Nanyang, Henan. In order to prove to her mother that she has the ability to live independently, in Beijing, Pan Meihao took a wheelchair to parachute, climb, participate in music festivals, and explore local barrier-free accessibility in many places. facility.

Pan's beautiful experience opened another door for Tang Min. It turns out that the life of the disabled can be so wonderful. They can transcend physical obstacles and embrace a free life.

The information she had overlooked also made Tang Min think about what can I do as a disabled person?

What can I do for this group?

In the future, Tang Min hopes to meet and communicate with them, and be brave and go out more like Pan Meihao's sister.

Beijing is the starting point, but it will never be the end.

The accidental fall of her younger brother made her decide to be more independent

When applying for the college entrance examination, Tang Min wanted to live in university independently, and she also wanted to challenge those foreseeable difficulties.

But after all, I was going to Beijing, more than 2,000 kilometers away from home, and my mother was worried and came with her.

The school arranged a single dormitory for the mother and daughter so that the mother could take care of her.

Before enrollment, the school specially arranged Tang Min's class in the classroom on the first floor when arranging classes.

But independent living is still Tang Min's goal. A phone call from her younger brother shortly after school started strengthened her idea.

She rushed into the fire and rescued her younger brother Tang Ze, who was 13 years old and was studying in Kunming.

The fire caused dry necrosis of Tang Ze's left hand and left foot. He underwent amputation, and one leg was fitted with a prosthesis.

That day, Tang Ze, who lived alone at the school, accidentally fell and his thigh broke and misplaced.

With his parents not around, Tang Ze could only call for help. Thinking about it now, Tang Min admired the "little guy"'s calm and brave character, but he was more distressed and self-blaming.

Because my mother had to accompany herself in Beijing, my younger brother had to rely on his father to take care of him while he was hospitalized in a fall.

"I think it's because I am not independent enough, so that my brother can't be with my mother when I need my mother the most, and it also puts my father under too much pressure."

The China Women's College where Tang Min attended has the goal of cultivating outstanding women with the "Four Selfs" spirit-self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-improvement. Tang Min's experience interprets the "Four Selfs" spirit, and the school hopes to help her achieve an independent life. The goal.

After a period of preparation, a volunteer team set up specifically for Tang Min was established.

This team of 60 people has a clear division of labor. Under the guidance of Tang’s mother, some people help her deliver meals, some help her clean, and some help her carry a wheelchair. Volunteers can help her with all the things that Tang Min is not convenient to do. .

Before leaving school, Tang Min worked with the volunteer team for two weeks. She felt that the results were good, and next semester, she plans to officially start living independently.

Father Tang Yueyun has confidence in his daughter. From the time he eats with a spoon when he is wrapped in bandages, he knows that his daughter can.

Be the "chitter" in the debate team

After the injury, Tang Min was hospitalized for a long time, and she gradually got used to being alone.

For Tang Min, expressing in the crowd is still a barrier. She said that she is not good at teamwork, and she always feels embarrassed and cramped when she speaks in the crowd.

But the more he is not good at things, the more Tang Min wants to break through.

When she chose the club this time, she fell in love with the debate team at a glance, knowing she was not good at it, but she still wanted to push herself.

After selection, Tang Min successfully joined the debate team.

When choosing a position for the debate, Tang Min chose the three debates that needed to find the loopholes in the opponent and initiate an offensive.

When she was in middle school, a friend said that Tang Min was very good at talking and could always find the problems in the other party's words to refute. In the debate team, she also wanted to be the "chick".

On November 7, 2021, Tang Min’s first official debate started, and Tang Min served as the third defender of the opposition.

Although this team's game did not ultimately have a victory or defeat, joining the debate team is still listed by her as the bravest thing of the year.

“Try what you’re not good at and the least sure of, and show yourself to others who are overly nervous, stuttering, and clumsy. Although I’m afraid of being embarrassed and afraid of causing troubles to others, I still do it bitterly. Now." Tang Min wrote in the circle of friends.

"Come slowly" to pay, there will always be results

Tang Min likes to paint, which is also a hobby she cultivated during the long healing period.

In 2021, a Malaysian caring person held a charity exhibition of handicapped people and invited Tang Min to participate.

The theme of the exhibition is "Slow Life".

After receiving this topic, Tang Min asked himself, why are people with disabilities slow?

Where is it slow?

Tang Min discovered that it was this "slowness" that made her feel nervous from time to time, for fear that she would cause trouble to others, and sometimes blamed herself for not being as efficient as ordinary people.

But slowness also has the advantage of slowness. Tang Min drew her keen observation of life in the painting.

The work she exhibited this time was called "Come Slowly".

In the painting, a red goldfish is swinging among purple flowers.

Tang Min said that the lives of flowers and fish are very short, but the fish seems to not feel the rush and always linger. The flowers are on the contrary, they bloom at the most gorgeous moments and quickly wither.

They are so similar and completely different, there will always be conflicts in life.

University life also needs to take time.

Tang Min said that in universities, teachers encouraged students to read more books, and at the same time reminded that reading books can broaden their horizons, but it does not mean that they will get good results after reading them.

"Not necessarily" is the new life that Tang Min is slowly adapting to. The effort may not get the desired result soon, but slowly, it will always come true.

Talking about the future, Tang Min said that she did not want to make too long-term plans, and more importantly, do the current things well.

"Like the slow goldfish in the flowers, take your time, go step by step."
