On January 1, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University held a flag-raising ceremony to welcome the arrival of the new year.

  The flag-raising ceremony was held on the PolyU campus at 9 a.m. Wang Songmiao, Secretary General of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Xue Yongheng, Director of the Innovation and Technology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Lin Dahui, Chairman of the Council of PolyU, Li Guoxiang, Vice Chairman, and Teng Jinguang, President of PolyU, And more than 500 masters and students of science attended.

  It is reported that the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government issued a circular to Hong Kong’s primary and secondary schools and kindergartens earlier to promote national education and cultivate students’ national concepts and national sentiments, as well as to strengthen students’ recognition of national identity, starting from January 1, 2022. Primary and secondary schools (including special schools) must display the national flag on every school day, New Year's Day, the anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and National Day, and a national flag-raising ceremony must be held once a week.
