One of the novelties of this January 1 is the opening of free contraception for all women up to 25 years old, and no longer just for minors.

A reform desired by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron but which does not yet fully satisfy Family Planning, for which this remains insufficient.

This is one of the expected reforms of Emmanuel Macron's five-year term.

As the Head of State also recalled Friday evening, during his vows, he opens contraception for women up to 25 years.

A measure that Planned Parenthood welcomes, but it remains insufficient according to Sarah Durocher, the co-president.

"Anything that can promote, advance access to contraception is a step forward. It responds, in fact, to situations of women who could find themselves in complicated situations to be able to pay for contraception after the age of 18," a she declared at the microphone of Europe 1.

"Precariousness does not stop at 25"

A step forward, of course, but which she nevertheless considers insufficient.

"On the other hand, where we are a little disappointed is that we would have liked it to go further. That means first of all the reimbursement of all the means of contraception since, in fact, this progress still does not take into account the cost of contraception, such as the patch or the vaginal ring. And then, the precariousness does not stop at 25 years ", she underlined.

"We would like support for all women"

Sarah Durocher would like Social Security to go even further.

"We would like there to be social security for all means of contraception for all women. And this is not the case today. We know that for financial reasons sometimes, of women choose a contraceptive method by default, simply because they cannot afford it ".
