"Knights of the Pink Caravan" kicks off in February

Next February, the streets of the Emirates will be decorated in pink, as the "Pink Caravan" of the Friends of Cancer Patients Association is leading the 11th march of its riders in order to raise awareness of breast cancer, and the importance of regular periodic examinations for early detection.

The “Pink Caravan” opens the door for community members to participate in the march, as it begins receiving applications for participation on January 3, provided that the applicants’ fitness test will be conducted on January 16, presenting a community health event that succeeded during its past years in being one of the influential initiatives globally.

For the first time in its history, the “March” offers two options for those wishing to participate, the first for those who want to join the Knights’ Walk and go with them on a tour of the seven emirates of the country, and the second for those who wish to contribute and ride horses in only one place, where the “March” opened the door for them to participate from Selected equestrian clubs and stables throughout the country.

The Supreme Committee stated that the participating horse stables and equestrian clubs will contribute this year to facilitating the participation of the largest number of riders in the history of the march, by providing horse and equestrian services, in addition to organizing special events to encourage jockeys of all nationalities and age groups to participate in support of the convoy's message. The march provides the riders with equestrian lessons, a unique experience of riding among the sand dunes, and enjoying an exclusive experience of horse riding on the beach, depending on the accompanying host stables.

The "Pink Caravan" enables amateurs wishing to participate in the march and support its goals, to enhance their skills in equestrian sports, knowing that the registration fees for these services will be allocated to direct support for breast cancer patients.

Reem bin Karam, head of the Higher Organizing Committee of the Knights of the Pink Caravan, said: "The march of the Knights of the Pink Caravan will return to launch next February, after postponing its 11th session, which was scheduled for the beginning of this year, due to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, in line with the precautionary measures taken by the state to preserve the safety of society. This march will continue its mission to mobilize community efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer, and to urge women and men to conduct periodic self-examinations for early detection of the disease.”

Bin Karam added: "With the support and directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, honorary president and founder of the Friends of Cancer Patients Association, the Pink Caravan was able, over ten years, to consolidate the values ​​of cooperation between the various segments of Emirati society and mobilize societal and institutional efforts to combat Breast cancer and reduce its repercussions, and I invite all segments of society to participate in this march in its 11th session to enhance these efforts and expand the scope of participation in its activities.”

The march starts from the Emirate of Sharjah to roam all the emirates of the country, with its entire team of individuals interested in community and humanitarian work, medical staff, knights, and volunteers from various components of Emirati society.
