Oddly enough, there were only a few questions about the coronavirus out of the president's almost four-hour conversation with journalists.

Nevertheless, for the second year, the country, like the whole world, is fighting this dangerous infection.

And I must say that, despite the insufficient rates of vaccination, the system built by the relevant departments is still working and coping.

Of course, it could have been better, the depressing number of deaths.

Especially where it could have been avoided.

The selfless work of our doctors largely compensates for the shortcomings in the organizational aspects.

State support measures, especially for families with children, are also a marker of the outgoing year.

The President separately noted the work of volunteers. This epidemic challenge has shown again one of the best qualities of our people - compassion and mutual assistance. Last year, a volunteer movement spontaneously emerged, which embraced completely different people, from young people to successful and successful, from politicians to ordinary citizens who disinterestedly helped and helps everyone in need of help during this difficult period. The state supported this movement in whatever way it could. Many volunteers were nominated by the society as candidates for deputies in the elections to the State Duma, which took place in September.

Parliamentary elections in a pandemic mode are in themselves a serious challenge for the electoral system and the political system in general. And it is worth noting that the CEC of Russia passed this exam perfectly. The elections were held honestly, transparently and in strict accordance with national legislation and international standards for the conduct of parliamentary elections in democratic countries. As a result, the lower house of our parliament received five factions. For the first time in many years, the fifth party was overcome by the fifth party - “New People” became it. The political system has become more stable.

United Russia retained its constitutional majority.

Although the election campaign for the ruling party was probably the most difficult in the entire 20-year history.

Taking on all the political responsibility for life in the country, United Russia coped with the negative train of the unpopular pension reform and carried out a brilliant election campaign.

United Russia directed a significant part of the electoral budgets to support doctors and volunteers, compensating for these funds with personal participation and work in the elections 24/7.

Slightly improved the result in the "Fair Russia - Patriots - For Truth" party, united on the eve of the elections.

The Liberal Democratic Party flooded the campaign and reduced its presence in the State Duma.

Separately, it should be said about the Zyuganovites.

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation sang its swan song in this election campaign.

In the elections, the communists significantly improved the previous result and even managed to close their debts to sponsors, which is not bad for the party leadership.

But at what cost?

It’s not even a matter of frostbitten populism, in which the Zyuganovites managed to surpass even the Zhirinovites.

The fact is that according to the principle of "any bast in the line", the Communist Party of the Russian Federation took on the shield the obscurantist discourse of anti-Axis and covid dissidents, practically and politically leading the fight against the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus.
