After the discovery of two dead in Fischerhude near Bremen, an arrest warrant for murder was issued against a 64-year-old.

The man is suspected of having killed the two people, said a spokesman for the Verden public prosecutor's office on Wednesday evening.

He is now in custody.

The suspect presented himself to the police on Wednesday morning.

For tactical reasons, the spokesman did not want to say whether the man commented on the murder allegation.

The authorities also continued to provide no information on the possible background to the crime.

The police found the bodies of a 56-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman in a residential building in the town in the Verden district on Tuesday evening.

A 53-year-old woman was previously seriously injured.

Witnesses reported multiple shots.

"Help me!

There is shooting over there "

The police had been on a large scale on Tuesday from around 5 p.m. in the town of Fischerhude, which has around 3,000 residents.

Special forces were also involved.

Neighbors had alerted the police after the 53-year-old woman was covered in blood and escaped to them.

"Help me!

There is shooting over there, ”she said.

The neighbors, still shocked on Wednesday, provide first aid immediately.

At first, the investigators could not rule out whether the dead man found in the apartment building was possibly the perpetrator.

That was cleared up on Wednesday night: Both the woman and the man were victims of a homicide.

The search pressure was further increased.

On Wednesday morning, the news came that the 64-year-old had given himself up.

He was arrested.

The police had set up a homicide squad.

Neighbors in Fischerhude were stunned.

The 73-year-old woman was described as friendly and always helpful.

It is unclear what the relationship between the victim and the alleged perpetrator was.

The seriously injured but approachable woman told the neighbors that she did not know the man.

He wore a black leather coat.

The investigators initially did not comment on this.

The woman is in the hospital.
