Rfi.fr ranked among the most reliable online media to fight against infox

In a context of proliferation of infox on the Internet, in particular linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and during the American and German elections, NewsGuard, a platform specializing in the analysis of the reliability of news and current affairs sites, ranks a once again RFI in its “Top 10” of the most reliable French-speaking sites.

RFI and France 24 appear again this year 2021 in the top three of NewsGuard's 2021 ranking "reliable sites with the most online engagement", among more than 7,200 news and current affairs sites.

These end-of-year lists also put the spotlight on French-speaking publications, large or more confidential, which practice responsible and transparent journalism.

To establish its ranking, NewsGuard relies on nine criteria of credibility, transparency and reliability and assigns an overall rating that can range from 0 to 100. A site with a score below 60 is assigned a Red rating, which indicates that it is unreliable.

In one year, Rfi.fr climbs from 5th to 2nd place in the ranking

In France,

evaluated all news and information sites whose content represents 95% of online engagement.

Seven percent of them received a perfect score of 100, which means they meet NewsGuard's nine criteria for credibility and transparency. 

Ten sites achieved NewsGuard's maximum score - 100 out of 100. They generated the most social media engagement in 2021. They are listed in order of engagement, with the most shared. 

At the top of the list was 20minutes.fr, followed by RFI.fr, France24.com, FranceInter.fr, FranceCulture.fr, LaNouvelleRépublique.fr, LeTelegramme.fr, ParisMatch.com, Numerame.com and Positivr.fr

Two of them are local news sites (LaNouvelleRepublique.fr and LeTelegramme.fr).

Two are specialized publications available exclusively on the web (Numerama.com and Positivr.fr).

And four are associated with public radio and television (RFI.fr, France24.com, FranceInter.fr and FranceCulture.fr).
