Fukuoka Prefecture has newly announced that it has been confirmed that one female in her twenties living in the prefecture is infected with the new mutant virus "Omicron strain" of the new coronavirus.

The female is a close contact with an infected person of the Omicron strain confirmed in Kansai, and the prefecture states that it is "not a community-acquired infection in the prefecture."

According to Fukuoka Prefecture, one woman in her twenties living in the prefecture was newly confirmed to be infected with the Omicron strain.



While the female has no history of traveling abroad, she is a close contact with an infected person of the Omicron strain confirmed in Kansai, and the prefecture says, "I don't think it is a community-acquired infection in the prefecture."



The woman has not been vaccinated and is currently admitted to a medical institution, but she has no symptoms.



In addition, two family members living together who have been certified as female close contacts have been tested negative so far.



Two people have been confirmed to be infected with the Omicron strain in Fukuoka Prefecture.



The prefecture is calling for thorough basic infection control measures such as wearing masks, and is gradually expanding so that free tests can be taken at pharmacies to prevent the spread of infection.
