France again crossed a new record for Covid-19 contamination on Wednesday, exceeding the threshold of 200,000 cases for the first time, after nearly 180,000 cases on Tuesday, according to figures from Public Health France.

"Figures that make you dizzy"

Precisely, 208,099 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours in France, "figures that make you dizzy", had commented earlier in the day the Minister of Health Olivier Véran during a hearing at the National Assembly.

On average, over the last seven days, 105,190 people have tested positive daily.

"We are facing two enemies", Delta who has not said his last word, stressed the minister, as well as "the Omicron variant, and here I will no longer speak of vague.

I mentioned the tidal wave.

"

"Given the figures that we have been recording for a few days, I will speak of a tidal wave," added Mr. Véran.

Tension continues to rise in hospitals as the number of beds occupied Wednesday by Covid patients in France rose to 17,856 (against 17,405 the day before), with 1,949 new hospitalizations.
