Okinawa Prefecture announced on the 28th that two new people have been confirmed infected with the new mutant virus "Omicron strain" of the new coronavirus.

According to the prefecture, one of them has no contact with a person who has been confirmed to be infected with the Omicron strain, and Okinawa Prefecture is considered to be the first community-acquired infection in the prefecture.

According to Okinawa Prefecture, one of them is a female Japanese employee in her 40s working at Kadena Air Base in the US military.

The other is a man in his 60s in Naha City, who has not been confirmed to be associated with a U.S. military base and the infection route is unknown. I see it as a case.

Both have been vaccinated and so far the symptoms are mild.

There are now 12 confirmed infections with the Omicron strain in Okinawa Prefecture.
