Chiba Prefecture announced that it was confirmed that a man in his 60s living in the prefecture who entered the country from overseas was infected with the mutant virus Omicron strain of the new coronavirus.

Since men have not gone out after entering Japan, it is considered that the prefecture is not a community-acquired infection.

The infection was confirmed on the 19th of this month by a man in his 60s who arrived at Narita Airport from Rwanda in Africa and lives in Chiba prefecture. It turned out that he was on the same plane, and he was being observed for health as a close contact.

Subsequent PCR tests confirmed infection with the new coronavirus, and genome analysis revealed infection with the Omicron strain on the 27th.

After entering the country, the man has never been out except for returning to his home in his own car, so it is considered that the prefecture is not infected in the city.

The man is asymptomatic and is currently admitted to a medical institution.

Infected with Omicron strain was confirmed for the first time in the prefecture on the 23rd of this month, and this time there are two.
