Information security specialists are calling attention to the year-end and New Year holidays when email exchanges are increasing, saying that the activity of "Emotet", a computer virus that has been smashed all over the world and was suppressed in January, has resumed. increase.

Emotet is a computer virus that has been rampant all over the world for the past few years, and in January, it was declared to be suppressed by the detection of international organizations, but according to the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA), the activity resumed from last month. It means that it was confirmed.

When Emotet is infected by opening an email attachment, it steals the information on the terminal, sends the emails that were actually exchanged, and sends the emails to business partners and acquaintances, and spreads the infection one after another.

Since the beginning of this month, IPA has received multiple consultations regarding Emotet, such as "I received an email that looks like it was from a business partner and opened the file."

IPA calls attention to the fact that even emails from business partners and acquaintances should be checked directly with the sender without clicking on suspicious files or URLs immediately.

Naoki Nakajima, chief of IPA, said, "I want you to carefully check each one to see if it is genuine, even when you are busy at the end of the year or when you have a lot of emails at the beginning of work at the beginning of the year."
