A terrifying moment of lightning strikes a man in Indonesia (video)

Surveillance cameras monitored a terrifying moment when a thunderbolt descended directly on a security guard, “35 years,” in the yard of a heavy equipment company, in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

The video, which was published by "News Detec", and which was widely circulated, documents how the man was walking with his umbrella, and then suddenly, something like an explosion occurred, causing the man to fall to the ground while a number of workers rushed towards him in an attempt to save him.

And local media reported that the man narrowly escaped death, but suffered serious burns on his body, and it is believed that the guard's radiotelephone, which he was holding in his hands, was the one that attracted the lightning.

According to "Russia Today", the death toll from lightning reaches hundreds around the world, and those who survive suffer from symptoms of a heart attack, severe burns and brain damage for life.

Men are targeted by lightning strikes more than women, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which states that about 85% of lightning deaths are men.

It is also believed that carrying a parachute increases the chances of a direct hit.
