Immunization First anniversary of Covid vaccines: the story of a success
Boticaria García The 10 most frequently asked questions about omicron
The transmission of the coronavirus has never been so uncontrolled in Spain.
And no, it is not an exaggeration, but rather a reality, as
today's data marks a milestone
in pandemic evolution.
The incidence of Covid-19
has exceeded 1,000 cases
per 100,000 inhabitants
for the first time in Spain
.
The single and continuous conversation for some days about positives, infections, antigen tests and quarantines has been translated today into figures that reflect this situation.
The cumulative incidence indicator (AI) stood at
1,206.21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants
this Monday
, after a large increase of almost 300 points
compared to Thursday, December 23.
The seven-day incidence, key to detecting possible changes in trend, stands at 750.51 cases per 100,000, according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health.
Thus, Spain already has its incidence in a very high risk, since the figure at 14 days comfortably doubles the 500 cases, as well as the data at seven days the 250 infections, minimum figures required to consider a territory in the mentioned
risk very high
. In this way, for the first time since the pandemic began and after breaking the incidence record for the second day in a row, it exceeds more than 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The highest incidence until the arrival of this sixth wave occurred just 11 months ago, on January 27 of this year that is about to end, with 899.93 infections per 100,000 people. Relentlessly, the number of new cases and deaths continue to trend upward.
214,619 ho
y
cases
have been reported
, compared to 72,912 on Thursday and 120 deaths, compared to 82.
Since the start of the pandemic, Health has registered a total of 5,932,626 million cases and
89,139 deaths
.
"The truth is that we are at a critical moment, in the sense that we have many cases every day. In this last wave that we are experiencing, we have not reached the peak yet and we have already surpassed the peak of any other previous wave", comments the Dr Joan A. Caylà, epidemiologist and specialist in preventive medicine and public health.
MORE THAN TWELVE MILLION SPANISH PEOPLE HAVE RECEIVED THE REINFORCEMENT DOSE OF THE COVID-19 VACCINE
Specifically, 89.9% of the target population (37,853,370 people) have already received the complete vaccination schedule against Covid-19 and 92% a dose (38,732,476 people), according to the report published this Monday by the Ministry of Health. This also indicates that
in Spain 85,443,894 doses of the vaccines
against Covid-19 from Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen have been administered, which represents 98.6% of those distributed among the autonomous communities, whose total it amounts to 86,690,398 units.
As for
additional doses
, according to data from the Ministry of Health, a total of 12,720,094 have already been administered: 7,351,574 from Pfizer and 5,368,520 from Moderna. At the moment, these data collect the extra dose only from people with high-risk conditions, people who live in residences, people over 40 years and essential workers, as well as the Janssen booster.
Thus, four days after the end of the year, there are just over three million doses to be administered to reach the goal set by Minister Carolina Darias of inoculating
16 million third doses before December 31
. Specifically, for all groups that can receive this third dose to be fully immunized, there is a lack of just under a million people over 70 years of age, around a million and a half over 60, almost a million vaccinated with Janssen, five million people between 50 and 59 years old and, finally, more than six million people between 40 and 49 years old.
By age groups vaccinated with the complete schedule, in general those over 12 years of age represent 89.9%.
And specifically,
from 12 to 19 years old they account for 86.1%
;
from 20 to 29 years old, they account for 80.4% and from 30 to 39 years old, 78.4%;
while those over 40 years of age account for 94.8%.
