Kairouan Festival of Arabic Poetry concludes its sixth session

The Kairouan Festival of Arab Poetry concluded the activities of the sixth session, which was organized by the House of Poetry in Kairouan, Tunisia, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in the presence of the Chairman of the Department of Culture in Sharjah Abdullah Al Owais, and the Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qusayr, director of the House of Poetry in Sharjah, Muhammad Al-Buraiki, and a large number of Tunisian and Arab poets and intellectuals.

The closing day of the festival witnessed the honoring of poets from Tunisia and various Arab countries, as well as the awarding of prizes to the winners of the House of Poetry competition for the three best poems.

Al Owais and Al-Qusayr handed memorial shields to the participants and the parties contributing to the success of the festival. They also presented the winners of the House of Poetry competition for the best three poems with encouragement prizes, in support of continuing poetic writing.

The poets participating in the sixth session of the festival expressed their thanks to Sharjah as an incubator for every Arab creator, and they valued the initiative of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in establishing poetry houses in the Arab world, which restored brilliance to the Arab poem and strengthened the poetic presence in the Arab cultural arena.

The activities of the second day of the festival continued with an intellectual symposium entitled: (Poetry and Values), in which Dr. Mabrouk Al-Mannai and Dr. Moez Al-Wahaibi lectured, and it was moderated by Dr. Hatem Al-Fatnassi.

They pointed to the march of Arab poetry, and its creative impact that is still present today. The academics participating in the symposium unanimously agreed on the importance of poetry returning to the literary front as the “diwan of the Arabs.” In this critical direction, the necessity of the poem’s presence in daily life was evident due to its multiple values. .

The symposium was followed by poetry readings in which poets Mahdi Ghallab, Hood Al-Amani (Libya), Jamal Amami, and Salim Al-Hadji (from Baraem Poetry and Shows Club) participated.

On the evening of the closing day, a poetry evening was organized in which poets Osama Al-Riyani, Mokhtar Bin Ismail, Wedad Al-Habib, Al-Shazly Al-Farhati, Basma Al-Mas’i, Lham Haboub and Nour Al-Murabit (from Baraem Poetry and Shows Club) participated.
