The country’s hosting of an international conference and a global summit on climate change reflects Emirati leadership and the wise leadership’s interest in achieving the highest standards of sustainability to reduce carbon emissions, as well as reducing the effects of climate change and global warming in line with the “UAE Vision 2071” for the next fiftieth.

The tireless efforts to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2023 (UNFCCC COP 28), which is the most important and largest international conference on climate action with the participation of world leaders and leaders, scheduled to be held from 6 to 17 November 2023, reflects a professionalism that is not limited to hosting or organizing, event and decision making.

The eagerness to host the “COP 28” or “Conference of the Parties”, which means the twenty-eighth conference and gathering of the parties, did not come out of nowhere, but was accompanied by the leadership's commitment to support global efforts for the good of humanity.

And the assertion of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that “the UAE is ready to host the (COP 28) conference in 2023, if it wins the hosting,” aimed at coordinating international efforts in climate action, and to provide an opportunity to enhance the protection of the earth. Enabling sustainable economic growth, as the cooperation of the international community ensures prosperity.

This was followed by the good news of the victory, which was given by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who congratulated the UAE for winning the hosting of the most important global climate conference "COP 28".

The previous sessions witnessed the participation of about 200 countries to take joint measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as reduce the repercussions of climate change and global warming, and that environmental protection is part of the national gains established by the founding fathers, as His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said, "The founding father was keen on protecting the environment, and his approach was a catalyst and source of inspiration for the progress we have made in the field of environment and the development and diversification of the economy over the past fifty years, and this legacy will remain a beacon for us in our endeavors to ensure the well-being of today's and tomorrow's generations."

Targeting the consolidation of the position of the Conference of the Parties (COP 28) as a forum for solutions, will be accompanied by practical Emirati steps that include the UAE strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality 2050, which reflects a firm commitment to support climate action, and the UAE arm specialized in renewable energy industries “Masdar”, reflects the maturity An investment and international partnership that shows Emirati determination and seriousness to support other countries in facing the challenges of climate change, and investment sustainability in the green economy.

Locally and federally, we are looking forward to unprecedented and innovative initiatives that parallel the successes of Expo 2020 Dubai, in redefining sustainability, development and communication. The first axis of the Expo is sustainability.
