Chardonnay in Sweden and vines under water in Italy, European wine is definitely in all its forms ... Affected by episodes of extreme rain and pronounced droughts, which are on the increase - as announced in 1990 by the scientific group of IPCC in its first report.

At the main European producers, France, Italy and Spain, the harvest volume is down.

In Spain

, the third European producer for 15.6% of world production, the harvests were short-lived this year.

But

that does not prevent the experts to foresee a quality higher

than that of last year ... The explanations in Madrid of

 Diane Cambon

The French vineyard is the most affected by the bad weather

in Europe, and

the sector expects a drop of almost 30%

 in wine

production

this year. Here again, it is the mildew parasite caused by heavy rains that is to blame - as well as the late frost episodes that certain regions have experienced. All this after three consecutive years of drought.

Wine growers are therefore starting to review their way of caring for the vines,

and to look for solutions to adapt ... This is a report in Alsace by

Angélique Ferat

Making wine in water is possible!

Accents d'Europe

 takes you

to the island of Elba,

it is

 in Italy

, in Tuscany precisely.

For several years now,

a winemaker has been making a wine like no other here: his bunches of grapes ripen… under seawater

, off the island.

He drew this revolutionary technique from the Greek tradition.

Olivier Bonnel

went there to learn all about this particular nectar, to be enjoyed in moderation of course!

Taste is nothing without smell ... And

smells also have their passion.

This incredible initiative launched in the Netherlands bears witness to this:

historians, experts in artificial intelligence, chemists and perfumers have given themselves three years to write

an encyclopedia of European olfactory heritage

. They will list and identify the most famous and widespread smells, from the 16th century to the present day. Scents are more and more present in museums alongside works of art ... Napoleon's perfume 4711 Eau Cologne, for example, has been resynthesized and exhibited at the Rijksmuseum where the Battle of Waterloo can be found. But this initiative goes much further, as
