Dozens of Parisian Fnac employees walked out on Thursday at the call of the CGT, demanding an improvement in their salaries and working conditions, before further disruptions planned for Friday, Christmas Eve, in Nice or Marseille.

Striking booksellers or record dealers from the Paris Saint-Lazare store were joined by employees and union officials from the intramural Fnac shops, with nearly 200 people mobilized, assured the CGT central delegate, Boris Lacharme.

Management noted for its part the participation of "fifty employees" in the strike on Thursday.

After the vote of an unlimited notice until the end of December, the movement must be renewed on Friday to put pressure on the compulsory annual negotiations (NAO) scheduled for February.

Stoppages scheduled for Friday

Employees of Fnac from Nice, Marseille, Le Havre and Clermont-Ferrand also planned walkouts on Friday, but without causing the closure of the shops concerned. "Wages and working conditions are the common denominators of the movement," said Marc Pietrosino, central delegate Relay (stores in the regions), who deplored "the savings made on the health of employees" with health precautions he judge insufficient.

Asked by AFP, the management of Fnac "recalls that the purchasing power of its employees is a constant concern", insisting in particular on the payment of a monthly bonus of 135 euros for Parisian employees, "equivalent to a 14th month ”.

The group also highlighted the recruitment of 2,800 reinforcements for the holiday season, and indicated that "increases between 1 and 1.5% are negotiated each year during the NAO".

“30 million euros in dividends” paid in 2021

"The starting salary has been caught up by the increase in the minimum wage, the NAO budget will only be used for an adjustment", swept Boris Lacharme, regretting the payment of "30 million euros in dividends" in 2021 to shareholders.

He wished with this movement "to scrape the image of a social enterprise" of Fnac.

Last weekend, the CGT had counted 30 to 80% participation in walkouts in stores in the regions.

The strike was notably from the same source very well followed in Amiens, concerned - like nine other stores - by the signing of a collective performance agreement.

With, according to the CGT, the reorganization of trades and working time.

"We will now ask employees for ultra-versatility, with the merger for example of reception services, stock or after-sales service without adequate training," denounced Marc Pietrosino.
