As of this morning, children aged 5-11 can be vaccinated.

Those considered "at risk" have already received their injection since December 15.

A vaccination center in Issy-les-Moulineaux in Hauts-de-Seine has received around twenty children today.

REPORTING

Childhood immunization kicks off.

In Issy-les-Moulineaux, a Covid-19 vaccination center has opened up slots for children.

Among them today, Priam, 9, wiggles around in his chair while waiting his turn, supervised by his two parents.

"I'm happy, it's the vaccine like that at least we don't catch the Covid", he testifies at the microphone of Europe 1. "And then like that, it's done", adds Émilie , his mother.

"He's going back to college anyway so he's going to have to do it to be safe."

And his father Laurent added that "he wants to go back to see his grandparents, so that will also help reassure us all".

A specific layout

In box 8, specially designed for 5-11 year olds, a doctor is responsible for maintenance and a nurse for injection.

"You look at mom, you relax your arm," reassures the latter.

“You look at me and you count to 5,” a mother explains to her child.

"We must necessarily reassure a little more, but the idea is above all to explain the action that we are going to do", recalls Mélissa, the nurse in charge of the vaccination of children.

"With a little candy in general, it goes well: they come out with a smile."

Covid: why do pediatricians not yet have the doses to vaccinate children?

A whole organization put in place in just a few hours by Jean-Christophe, referral nurse of the center and his team.

"It was the discovery: we have to adapt the furniture and the staff that were not necessarily provided for care with children," he says.

"We were caught in the act this morning, it's more gripping."

The center will step up the pace: 30 slots for children are scheduled for Thursday and up to 50 per day next week.

At this time, the booster dose does not apply to adolescents.
