• A man in his sixties pocketed the sum of 30 million euros in early December, after validating his ticket in Orgères, south of Rennes.

  • This sum constitutes an absolute record since the creation of the Loto in France, in 1976.

  • The lucky winner had however forgotten his ticket, left in a bag he had forgotten at the restaurant.

After the man who was worth 3 billion, here is the satchel that was worth 30 million. In Orgères, south of Rennes, a man in his sixties pocketed the tidy sum of 30 million euros during the Loto draw on December 4. It is the largest sum ever since the game's launch in 1976, which ended up falling after 28 consecutive draws without a winner. The winning combination? The 5, 18, 23, 34, 44 and the 5 for luck. According to La Française des jeux, the lucky winner still played the same combination, which he had chosen a bit by chance several years ago.

But luck almost did not smile on this casual player in his sixties.

Kept in his bag for over a week, his ticket was lost for a few hours during a business trip.

“I lost my bag at the restaurant during my stay.

I had to send a taxi to pick it up, ”he says.

“At the time, I didn't know my receipt was a winner.

I never imagined that my bag contained 30 million euros!

", He explained to the FDJ when handing over his check.

"I fell very low"

Coming from a modest family, the winner is an entrepreneur. According to the FDJ, the man would have gone through many professional trials before setting up his own business, which is now flourishing. “I fell very low but I always fought to get back up. I come from a background where I had nothing to lose, ”he explained during the payment. The money received by the Breton boss will allow him "to help his partner and brother at heart as well as his family" but also to buy a house and travel. His relatives are not yet aware of the incredible news, not even his wife. The lucky one was counting on announcing to them on the occasion of the end of the year celebrations, after almost a month of keeping it a secret. A Christmas that promises to be rather joyful.

As with every major gain, the FDJ offered personalized support to the big winner, in order to allow him to better manage this new life.

This is the second time in a few months that the historical record of earnings has been broken.

The previous record was set on September 11 and stood at 26 million euros.

The 30 million won at Orgères do not even constitute a winning record in Ille-et-Vilaine.

In 2007, more than 39 million euros were pocketed in the Euromillions by a resident of Vern-sur-Seiche.
