The new messages that affect cultural life are:

  • Requirements of 10 square meters per person for trade fairs, trading places and places for cultural and leisure activities.

  • At public gatherings and public events with more than 20 people, only seated guests are allowed, regardless of whether they have a vaccination certificate or not.

  • For events with more than 500 participants, a vaccination certificate and a distance between the parties and a maximum of 8 people per party are required.

The restrictions apply from 23 December.

Clubs and venues with a standing audience are said to be strongly affected by today's message, but also the art galleries and museums that are forced to reduce the number of visitors.

120 million in aid

Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg (S) also presented new support money to the culture and sports sector to relieve the pain.

- The government will contribute an extra 120 million to the cultural area and 80 million to sports to reduce the negative economic consequences of the restrictions and general councils that are now being introduced.

The financial support measures will be proposed in an additional amending budget which will be decided and submitted to the Riksdag in January.
