On the afternoon of the 21st, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito met with President Shin Kaneko of JR Central Japan Railway Company on the "Linear Chuo Shinkansen," which Shizuoka Prefecture has not approved due to concerns about water resources. Based on this, we have decided to instruct local residents to deal with their anxieties.

Regarding the "Linear Chuo Shinkansen" that JR Central is proceeding with, Shizuoka Prefecture does not allow construction to start in the prefecture because there is a concern that the underground tunnel construction will have adverse effects such as a decrease in the amount of water in the Oi River.

Under these circumstances, a meeting of experts from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said on the 19th that if a path for groundwater that springs up in the tunnel is created and all the amount is returned to the Oi River, the amount of water in the middle and downstream areas will be maintained. I summarized.

In response to this, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito met with President Shin Kaneko of JR Central on the afternoon of the 21st at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, and announced the policy of giving oral guidance based on this interim report.

Regarding the content of the guidance, Minister Saito said, "Based on the historical background of the water use of the Oi River, we request that we continue to take sincere measures so that the anxieties and concerns of the region can be dispelled." Said.
