Government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Tuesday after an interview with Jean Castex that "more than one in three contamination seems to be linked to the Omicron variant" in Paris.

He also specified that the incidence rate of Covid-19 reached "once again a record" in France, at 537 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

"More than one in three contamination (with Covid-19) seems to be linked to the Omicron variant" in Paris in view of the screenings carried out, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on Tuesday.

"Omicron is arriving in our country" and if it represented "10% of the contaminations this weekend, we are probably beyond today and far beyond in certain regions, in particular in Ile-de-France, in particular in Paris ", declared Gabriel Attal after an interview with Prime Minister Jean Castex with associations of local elected officials.

The incidence rate of Covid-19 reached "once again a record" in France, at 537 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, he said.
