Lina Marcour sticks her tongue in her cheek, looks down at an angle and looks slightly annoyed.

It does not matter anyway.

Or rather: That's right!

Because in the voting for the cover pictures of the FAZ magazine, in which 823 FAZ.NET visitors took part over the weekend, the model (photographed by Jelka von Langen) with this facial expression came in first place, with a relative majority of a whopping 15 percent.

The question about the most beautiful of 17 cover pictures from this year was not representative, valid, reliable or even objective. But the survey shows an exciting trend: Our readers love it to be authentic. In second place (ten percent) came the employee of a corona test center in Frankfurt, photographed by AP photographer Michael Probst. And third place went to Simone Uhl and her dog Erna (nine percent), who was taken by FAZ editorial photographer Lucas Bäuml at our street casting design shoot. Even if a photo is taken - a surprised look makes a picture appealing.

A magazine obviously doesn't work without people: even an appetizing fish ships.

And one more incontrovertible wisdom of magazine journalism comes true: men simply do not go down well on covers.

Model Alpha Dia was only eighth, soccer player David Alaba was eleventh, and Marteria came in last.

The rap musician looks pretty annoyed on his cover.

But annoyed alone is somehow not enough.
