This was reported by TASS with reference to the portal "Meteonosti".

“At 05:00 at Moscow's main meteorological station, VDNKh, a record low atmospheric pressure for December 19 was recorded: 973.8 hPa (730.6 mm Hg).

Thus, the 1996 record was updated with a value of 974.1 hPa (730.6 mm Hg), ”the statement said.

It is noted that the deep North Atlantic cyclone with a pressure in the center of less than 990 hPa is to blame for this situation.

It sits directly above the metropolitan area.

At the same time, it is specified that atmospheric pressure continues to fall, and at 10:00 Moscow time, 967.1 hPa (725.6 mm Hg) was recorded at the VDNKh meteorological station.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, warned of a decrease in atmospheric pressure in Moscow on December 19 due to an impending cyclone.
