33,000 deaths from Covid-19 vaccines? No !

Several versions, with different figures, have been published by Internet users since the start of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign.

Information which seems very serious because of a header in the colors of the European Union.

According to a recent version of this document, as of December 11, 2021, the Pfizer vaccine would have led to 15,376 deaths, that of Moderna to 9,253, AstraZeneca to 6,655 deaths, and Janssen to 2,026.

For a total increase of "2.02% compared to the last statement", without counting neither Great Britain nor Switzerland.

When this image is shared, Internet users denounce a media silence on the alleged deaths caused by vaccines.

This is not the first time that these type of alarmist figures on Covid-19 vaccines have circulated on social networks.

However, they are not true.

FAKE OFF

The table refers to the Eudravigilance site of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which lists the side effects of different vaccines detected across Europe.

Once on this site, just go to the letter C to obtain the information on the side effects recorded for the vaccines against the Covid-19.

However, the table circulating on social networks “cannot be found on our website.

This information was not created by the EMA and hijacks our logo and the European emblem, ”the European Medicines Agency told

The web user who wrote the table also specifies: “You have to retrieve the data [of the side effects recorded] on the Eudravigilange site ... You then have to add them up and use a spreadsheet to restore them in this published form ...!

"

Eudravigilance lists the events recorded after vaccination in several categories: blood or heart disorders, nervous system disorders, infections, etc. In a number of cases, the event was "fatal", as specified in the database under the “Number of individual cases by age group and sex” tab.

However, on its website, the European Medicines Agency specifies that "the cases reported concern suspected side effects, that is to say medical events which were observed after vaccination, but which are not necessarily linked or caused by the vaccine. "

As explained a few months ago to 20 Minutes Francesco Salvo, coordinator of the safety investigation on the Pfizer vaccine in France, this type of data constitutes pharmacovigilance.

These databases "allow health professionals - whether they are doctors or pharmacologists - and patients to notify an undesirable effect potentially linked to taking a drug, in this case a vaccine against Covid-19" .

"The deaths reported in this database are deaths occurring after vaccination and which require, according to health professionals, a detailed analysis", continued Francesco Salvo.

But that "absolutely does not" mean that the deaths are a side effect of the vaccine.
