• The final of the Eurovision Junior 2021 will be held on Sunday at La Seine Musicale, in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine) and will be broadcast live on France 2.

  • Nineteen songs, for as many countries, participate in this edition.

  • Among the favorites: Armenia, Georgia and North Macedonia.

Have you never heard songs in Macedonian, Albanian, Serbian or Kazakh?

The final of the Eurovision Junior 2021, broadcast live from the musical Seine (Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine) on Sunday from 4 p.m. on France 2, will give you the opportunity to awaken your ears to the musicality of these languages .

Nineteen songs, representing as many countries, will be in the running to succeed

J'Imagine

by Frenchwoman Valentina, victorious last year.

While the votes will be open on the Internet from this Friday,

20 Minutes

offers you its Top 5 ...

Georgia:

Let's Count The Smiles

If we only had to vote for one song, Niko Kajaia's would undoubtedly be our preference. In a competition where many small artists adopt adult facial expressions (this is sometimes frightening), the young performer exudes a joyful freshness and childlike spontaneity. He sings

Let's Count The Smiles

with funny nonchalance. If it won, this pop title, which incorporates a few words in French, would bring Georgia its fourth victory at Eurovision. This country would thus improve its record: it is the most successful in the history of the competition, ahead of Belarus, Malta, Poland and Russia, who each won two trophies.

»Other songs from Eurovision Junior 2021 with lyrics in French:

Mon Ami

(Russia),

Fairy World

(Kazakhstan)…

North Macedonia:

Green Force

This is the “Generation Greta” proposal for this edition.

The Datje Muzika quartet, composed of two girls and two boys, launches a warning message on the environmental crisis and invites to take care of the Earth.

“This is the only place that is our home, we have to realize that we are doing wrong.

We are the new green forces, so let's take control ”, enjoins the refrain of their very dancing song, imbued with Latin sounds without turning away from Balkan influences.

The Datje Muzika can claim victory, especially as their order of passage, in penultimate position is very advantageous.

The other song with a message from Eurovision Junior 2021:

Stand By You

(Albania), on bullying at school.

Italy:

Specchio (Mirror on The Wall)

Eurovision, Euro football, Olympic title in the men's 100m, European volleyball trophy… This year, Italy has gotten used to winning everything.

So why not Eurovision Junior?

With

Specchio

(“Mirror”), Elisabetta Lizza will try to follow in the rock footsteps of the group Maneskin which won in May at Eurovision with

Zitti e Buoni

.

»The other rock song from Eurovision Junior 2021:

Saor

(Ireland)

Armenia:

Qami Qami

Wondering which is the favorite song to win? Here it is. With

Qami Qami

, Maléna, offers a pop song completely in tune with the times, which would not mismatch in the repertoire of Dua Lipa, for example. For many, this title could have had all its chances at Eurovision short… Of all the songs in the running, it is clearly the one that sounds the least “Junior”. It is at the same time an asset to stand out, and its weakness because the risk exists that it appears too "adult" to seduce the youngest public.

»Other songs" like grown-ups "from Eurovision Junior 2021:

One of Those Days

(Azerbaijan),

Voice of Love

(Bulgaria),

Someday

(Poland),

My Home

(Malta),

Vazhil

(Ukraine),

O Rapaz

(Portugal).

France:

Tic Tac

If the song which represents France appears in our selection, it is less out of chauvinism than because it has a good chance of ending up well ranked. And then, at Eurovision Junior, it is possible to vote for your own country, so we will not justify ourselves further. Completely in line with previous French applications since 2018 (

Jamais sans toi

by Angelina,

Bim Bam Toi

by Carla and

J'imagin

e by Valentina),

Tic Tac

meets the specifications that can be expected from a competition reserved for under 14s.

The song with charleston accents is joyful, dancing and at the height of a child.

Enzo calls for taking a break from "our lives on the clock" and "making room for the imagination" by taking the time.

Adults who end up on their knees this year will agree with the message.

»Other“ kids ”songs from Eurovision Junior 2021:

Imagine

(Germany),

Mata Sugu Aō Ne

(Netherlands),

Reir

(Spain),

Children's Eyes

(Serbia)

Culture

France is organizing the Eurovision Junior ... But what is this competition?

You can vote for your own country

The voting system for Eurovision Junior is significantly different from that of Eurovision since it takes place on the Internet.

The votes will be open this Friday at 5 p.m. on the website junioreurovision.tv.

After viewing a summary of the songs in the running, Internet users will be asked to vote for their three favorites.

It is possible to vote for your own country, so for example for France from France.

Voting will end at 4 p.m. on Sunday, at the start of the live, then reopen once the 19 candidates have performed on the final stage.

Public votes will count for 50% of the final result.

The other half will be made up of the votes of the nineteen national juries.
