Two regional languages of Hauts-de-France will finally be able to be taught regularly in the schools of the academies of Lille and Amiens, we learned this Thursday from the rectorate of Lille.

While the inclusion of Flemish in the circular on regional languages and cultures was acquired, a doubt remained for Picard as deplored by the deputy of the North Jean-Pierre Decool in the columns of

20 Minutes

, at the beginning of December.

In the academies of Lille and Amiens

This is no longer the case today.

Published this Thursday in the Official Journal of National Education, the famous circular "NOR: MENE2136384C" clearly mentions Picard among the regional languages that can be taught within National Education, but not everywhere.

Indeed, Picard and Flemish lessons can only be given in schools and academies of Lille (for both) and Amiens (for West Flemish only).

These lessons will be held "within the framework of the usual schedules of the pupils and in the respect of the modern language programs of the National Education", adds the academy of Lille.

The "go" is given, all that remains is to define these lessons, in other words to prepare the content of the courses, to work on the pedagogy, to release positions and to train the personnel.

The rectorate estimates that the first settlements can take place from the start of the 2022 school year.
