[Commentary] On the morning of December 15th, the Commissioner’s Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong held a media briefing to introduce the previous white paper "China's Democracy" issued by the State Council Information Office and the "State of Democracy in the United States" report issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pan Yundong, deputy commissioner of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, said that the two documents contrasted each other and contrasted sharply, fully revealing that there are many ways to achieve democracy, not the same, and they are not "aesthetic alone."

But the purpose of democracy should be the same, and it should be used to solve practical problems that the people need to solve.

Therefore, the political system of a country should be independently decided by the people of the country, and whether a country is democratic should also be judged by the people of the country, without foreign accusations or even gross interference or wanton transformation.

In this regard, I would like to share three views with friends from the media: First, the key to the judging criteria of democracy lies in whether the people are the masters of the country.

Second, all countries should communicate on an equal footing, exchange and learn from each other on the basis of independently choosing their own democratic development path.

Third, "exporting democracy" to the outside world cuts enough feet to meet the needs and causes endless harm.

[Explanation] Pan Yundong pointed out that the United States needs to reflect on why domestic democracy is in trouble, and it needs to reflect on the turbulence and conflicts that the forced promotion of its own model has brought to the world.

Regrettably, instead of serious reflection, the United States also held the so-called "Leaders’ Democracy Summit" a few days ago, forcibly dividing democracy into three, six, or nine classes, in an attempt to turn "democracy" into "beautiful lord" and continue. "Paste gold" and "increased fans" for American hegemony.

The U.S.'s sinister intention of "instrumentalizing" and "weaponizing" democracy to engage in group politics, to instigate separatism and confrontation, and to contain the development of other countries is once again not arrogant.

This Cold War mentality and intervention seriously violate international law and basic norms of international relations. It not only goes against the trend of the times, but also is not conducive to the unity of all countries to deal with urgent global challenges such as the raging epidemic, economic recovery, and climate change.

It can be said that the United States opened a wrong summit at the wrong time and with the wrong theme, and the final result was that there were very few people who responded and failed.

[Explanation] On December 19, Hong Kong will usher in the election of the 7th Legislative Council of the Special Administrative Region.

Pan Yundong said that this is a very important election held in Hong Kong during the critical period of transition from chaos to governance, from governance to prosperity.

The central government firmly supports the development of democracy in Hong Kong, and improves the electoral system of the Special Administrative Region. Improve the governance efficiency of the special zone and realize good governance and good governance.

The new election system fully demonstrates broad representation, political inclusiveness, balanced participation, and fair competition. It is conducive to safeguarding national sovereignty, security and development interests, and safeguarding Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability. It has won unanimous support and support from the citizens.

I believe that the majority of voters will be able to exercise their right to be the masters, promote Hong Kong's democracy to move forward steadily along the right track, and write a new chapter in the history of "One Country, Two Systems"!
