Saint-Morand Hospital in Altkirch (Haut-Rhin) has announced a partial closure of its emergencies from December 20.

In question: the lack of personnel during the end of year celebrations.

The emergency department will therefore be closed from 9:30 p.m., after agreement with "the local actors and in agreement with the ARS Grand-Est", indicated a press release relayed by Actu Haut-Rhin.

The text referred to "tensions in human resources" which "increase the difficulties in ensuring a medical presence 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, in particular during periods of leave".

Repeated closures

The emergencies will however remain open every day, weekends and holidays included, between 8:30 am and 9:30 pm.

Care will be provided by "an emergency doctor and a paramedical team".

The Altkirch hospital had already had to close its emergency rooms several times because of a "shortage of emergency doctors", especially during the last summer.

The press release reminds that patients must dial 15 and call the SAMU during closing hours.

The hospital hopes to be able to resume "normal functioning as soon as possible".
