Mathilda, 9, and her family lived in a tunnel connecting Paris and its suburbs alongside 150 other migrants.
For a month, the girl slept there every night before going to school.
She details the poor living conditions: “I am in the cold.
There are a lot of tents, we are given food and we light a fire so as not to be cold.
But not everyone has the place to stand in front.
Sometimes at night people fight and fall on the tents.
Mathilda's mother says: “There are no laws here.
At least she escapes some of the problems that take place during the day.
But when she comes back in the evening, you have to learn the lessons and do your homework.
She doesn't have that option.
Local residents were trying to help as best they could, providing showers and donations.
On December 10, Mathilda and her family were finally taken to safety after the tunnel was cleared.
They testify to their living conditions in the video of our partner Brut.
