On December 14th, the pre-stage survey for the emergency reinforcement of the dangerous rock mass in the Jiuqu plank road area of the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan and the pre-stage survey for the protection of the attached statue cave niches started. Currently, scaffolding is being erected on site.
It is understood that the preliminary survey will carry out detailed engineering geological survey and monitoring of the Jiuqu plank road area of the Giant Buddha, and take non-destructive reinforcement and repair measures for the niches in the Jiuqu plank road area.
In addition, preliminary investigations will be carried out on the protection of the cave niches attached to the Leshan Giant Buddha with the 114 niches and 119 niches of the Linjiang Stone Carvings in the North Gate. The main research contents include water-rock interaction, salt migration and crystallization, and sandstone degradation under temperature cycling. , And to carry out research on anti-weathering materials, the purpose of which is to provide a practical scientific basis for the later treatment of the Linjiang Stone Carvings, Shangshan Fragrant Road, Jiuqu Plank Road and the statues of the Heavenly Kings on both sides through the preliminary investigation and research work.
It is understood that this investigation will lay the foundation for the next step of the rescue and reinforcement of dangerous rock masses in the Jiuqu plank road area and the protection of the attached sculpture cave niches of the Leshan Giant Buddha.
