The Haut-Rhin prefecture wanted to put in place "reinforced measures to limit the spread of Covid-19", she said on Twitter on Friday.
The new directives concern the Christmas markets in Colmar and Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) and took effect this Saturday.
Areas dedicated to food consumption have thus been created, said a press release.

Incidence rate of 702 per 100,000
A valid health pass is required to purchase food or drink.
This was already the case in Colmar since December 3.
Louis Laugier, Prefect of Haut-Rhin, “calls on everyone's responsibility.
Compliance with these measures as well as barrier gestures is essential to fight against ”the coronavirus.
Actu Haut-Rhin recalls that this Friday, the incidence rate of the disease reached 702 per 100,000 inhabitants.
