In 2021, the energy bill of the French increased by 30 euros per month and per household according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee).

A finding that should not improve in the coming months since a drop in purchasing power is to be expected in 2022, between an increase in the price of energy, food products, even also manufactured products.

According to INSEE, the purchasing power of the French will decline in 2022. One expense will even weigh particularly heavily on household spending: the energy bill.

Over the year 2021, an increase in the price of energy has already been observed to the tune of 30 euros per month and per household compared to 2019, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.

Half of this increase is mainly due to the increase in the price of gas since it increased by 40% compared to 2019. But that's not all.

The price of gasoline is also involved.

In fact, we spend an average of 8 euros more per month on our vehicles.

Added to this is the rise in electricity prices.

A loss of purchasing power to be expected

Unfortunately, the situation should not improve in 2022. INSEE is counting on a loss of purchasing power caused in particular by the fact that the French will receive less aid than in 2021 - the year in which the energy check was been extended by 100 euros and where an inflation compensation of 100 euros was also decided.

This rise in energy prices should in addition be added to that of the prices of manufactured products and food products.

According to the latest estimates from INSEE, inflation should indeed rise to 2.5% at the start of 2022.
