The Bishop of Créteil (Val-de-Marne) Mgr Dominique Blanchet recently announced a series of measures taken by his diocese to fight against sexual violence within the Church.

The flagship decision is the upcoming sale of the official residence of the Catholic dignitary, indicates Actu Val-de-Marne.

The money from the transaction will help compensate the victims.

A sought-after replacement accommodation

The diocese contributes "to the Selam fund established for the individualized compensation of victims without resorting to the Denarius of the Church or to any contribution from the faithful for the mission", explained the bishop.

The latter will then live in “more modest accommodation near the bishopric” of Créteil which has not yet been found.

The objective is "to assume in the long term, the part of our institutional contribution", assured the bishop.

Bishop Dominique Blanchet also indicated that the diocese's helpline, created in 2014, was now reachable by email and in an "extended" manner.

He also mentioned the training of pastoral agents on the subject of sexual violence as well as a “charter of well-treatment and protection of minors […] in the process of being written”.
